i have

poured my first vodka and am reading ‘one day’ by david nicholls (so i can watch the film and be one of those horrid people who complain about the book being so much better and how the film didnt do anything or anyone any justice)

breaking up is lonely. but mainly because both the housemates are working like respectable people, while I finished my work in about the fastest time I’ve ever done it, spoke to the board, arranged meetings, filed and started to book in designers pre 1.30pm. and now, i want to play.

So I have a new career: PROMO VIDEO HOTTIE FOR HIRE.

Need someone to listen and nod intently? Need someone to use expressive hand gestures to convey rigorous intellectual discussion? Need someone to give you a closing quote for your video that grounds your work while providing the audience with a close up of THE BACK OF YOUR HEAD?

Well that’s me.

Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That’s because they were able to connect experiences they’ve had and synthesize new things. And the reason they were able to do that was that they’ve had more experiences or they have thought more about their experiences than other people. Unfortunately, that’s too rare a commodity. A lot of people in our industry haven’t had very diverse experiences. So they don’t have enough dots to connect, and they end up with very linear solutions without a broad perspective on the problem. The broader one’s understanding of the human experience, the better design we will have.

quote
…the internet is where we live. It’s where we do business, where we meet, where we fall in love. It is the central platform for business, culture, and personal relationships. There’s not much else left. To misunderstand the centrality of these services to today’s society is to make a fundamental error. The internet isn’t a luxury addition to life; for most people, knowingly or not, it is life.
